About Our Company

State Pest Control, originally Marshburn Exterminating, began in 1969, by J.L and Louise Marshburn. J.L was employed and trained by George Mathis(owner of mathis exterminating). Marshburn started from scratch, saw growth over years, a growth resulting from a dedicated work ethic and honesty with fair treatment to all.

In 1985 marshburn exterminating became State Pest Control. Eddie Evans a twelve year employee became owner in 1993, and J.L Marshburn retired.

In march of 2007 Wesley Wooten a sampson county native, became owner. Through Wes's vision, and diligence State Pest Control is becoming a household name in other regions of the state. State Pest Control has expanded to include a base of over 2,700 customers in eastern and central North Carolina, and increased the work force of the company to 12 full time employee, running 9 service trucks throughout two regions.

In 2009, the company was accredited by the State of North Carolina as an "offical wood destroying insect company". Also in 2009 the company was approved for the use of sentricon termite colony elimination, the latest toll utilized to help fight termites, and currently only certifies 2% of the pest control operators in the entire nation for use of this product.

In 2010, plans were laid out to open a new store in sanford, to better dserve the central region of our state. Sense then we have opened a store in rocky mount to also better serve our customers. We have also sponsored a baseball team in angier named State pest control termites. Through the leadership of Wes, State Pest Control has dedicated itself to customer service, professionalism, honesty, quality, and hard work allowing State Pest Control to be named "Best pest control company in sampson county" for 2009 with the vision which will allow the company to continue its growth into the future. With that Wes became a finalist for "Entrepreneurial Success Award" for 2010 for outstanding service to the community.
